    World Nomad Travel Insurance Verdict

So, you’re all set for your next journey and want to ensure you’ve covered everything.

The World Nomads scored 3.9 out of 5 stars in our extensive research and review. That is above average, right?

While World Nomads offers excellent coverage for baggage mishaps and travel delays, it doesn’t have ‘cancel for any reason’ (CFAR) coverage. So, if flexibility is your thing, you might want to keep that in mind.

Our evaluation shows World Nomads travel insurance didn’t fare well with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

The F rating might make you pause for a moment. We reached out to them for comment, but unfortunately, no response yet.

On the bright side, World Nomads gives you a 10% discount if you travel in a group of five or more.

Still, some of their budget plans have lower maximums and daily coverage limits for delays and cancellations. It’s not exactly ideal if you hit a snag mid-trip.

So, should you use the  World Nomads travel insurance?

Well, it’s affordable and has decent coverage. That means it could be just what you need for your next adventure. Just ensure you weigh the pros and cons before hitting that ‘buy’ button.

    World Nomads Travel Insurance Coverage

Are you wondering about the extent of coverage World Nomads Travel Insurance provides?

They offer two main plans: Standard and Explorer. With either plan, you can customize coverage to suit your travel activities. The aim is to protect medical expenses, emergencies, and personal belongings.

    Under the Standard Plan:

    • If you need to cancel or interrupt your trip, you’re covered for up to $2,500.
    • For each day of trip or travel delays, you can receive up to $500.
    • Baggage delay coverage is provided up to $750.
    • Your baggage and personal effects are insured for up to $1,000.
    • Medical expenses and sickness are covered. As a result, you can claim up to $100,000.
    • Emergency medical evacuation expenses are covered for up to $300,000.
    • Non-medical emergency transportation, like assistance during natural disasters, is covered for up to $25,000.
    • In the unfortunate event of death or dismemberment during your trip, $5,000 is provided.

    Adventurous Activities Coverage

World Nomads travel insurance stands out because it includes adventure sports and activities.

Therefore, from the Standard Plan, you will be covered in various activities ranging from bungee jumping to biking trips.

More adventurous pursuits like scuba diving and hot-air ballooning are covered under the Explorer Plan.

    Optional Riders

World Nomads offers limited optional add-ons, known as riders.

Their plans already include features other insurers typically offer as add-ons.

The only additional coverage available is a rental car damage rider, exclusive to the Explorer plan.

However, you can extend your coverage during your trip, a perk not commonly found with other travel insurance providers.

In a nutshell, the World Nomad travel insurance policy usually covers the following:

Policy TierTrip DelayTrip Interruption and CancellationBaggageMedical
Standard$500$2,500$1,000$100,000 (accident or sickness), $300,000 (emergency evacuation)
Explorer$3,000$2,500$3,000$100,000 (accident or sickness), $500,000 (emergency evacuation)

    Customer Reviews of World Nomads

Checking customer reviews and ratings is always a good idea before making decisions, right? Well, World Nomads isn’t exactly topping the charts at the moment.

They’ve got a 1-star rating with the BBB and a so-so 3.3-star rating on Trustpilot.

    What People Like:

    • Many folks are singing praises for the value they get with World Nomads. They’re scoring comprehensive coverage at competitive prices.
    • People love how user-friendly their website is. Getting a quote is a breeze, according to many happy campers.
    • World Nomads does a stellar job of breaking down policy details in a way that’s easy to understand.

    What People Don’t Like:

    • Now, onto the not-so-rosy feedback. Many customers are frustrated with the sluggish claims process. Some are stuck waiting for months to get things sorted out.
    • Then there’s the paperwork nightmare. People are grumbling about the mountain of documentation required during the claims process.
    • And to add insult to injury, there are reports of legitimate claims being denied.

How to File a Claim with World Nomads

If you ever find yourself in a sticky situation and need to file a claim with World Nomads, fear not. Visit their website and follow the prompts to file your claim online.

Ensure you have your policy number and all relevant documents, like police reports or medical records.

Throughout the process, they promise to keep you in the loop with regular email updates on the progress of your claim.

    Is World Nomads Worth It?

So, are you pondering whether World Nomads is your right choice? If you love adventure and seek affordable travel insurance, it should tick all the boxes.

World Nomads covers a wide range of extreme sports and outdoor activities that many other insurers don’t cover. Additionally, it provides generous coverage limits for baggage and travel delays.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind. While World Nomads excels in many areas, it doesn’t offer Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage, a feature available with most other insurance providers.

Additionally, its customer review ratings are below par, with an F rating from the BBB. Despite this, individual experiences may vary, so weighing your options carefully before deciding is essential.

Frequently Asked Questions About World Nomad Travel Insurance

Do World Nomads Cover for Canceled Flights?

As for cancellations, The Standard and Explorer plan of World Nomads Insurance include some coverage for flight cancellation, delay, and missed connections.

But there are certain exclusions that apply depending on the case. Thus, the sum you’ll receive depends on factors such as alternative travel arrangements, the overall trip, and the cause of the cancellation.

Can I Extend My World Nomads Travel Insurance?

If you are unable to return home at the right time due to the cancellation of the flight or some other reason, it is possible to extend your insurance policy during the trip.

It is a very convenient option that can be regulated according to your needs. Only make sure you get a new policy from the date of expiry of the old one.

Can I Get a Refund for World Nomads Travel Insurance?

World Nomads also has you covered on refunds. If you cancel your policy within 14 days of purchase, haven’t yet embarked on your trip, or made any claims, you’re eligible for a full refund.

What Does The World Nomads Travel Insurance Offer?

World Nomads offers two main plans: Standard and explorer.

This plan has a lower level of coverage but offers additional sports and activities coverage.

The other plan offered by the company is the Explorer Plan that provides higher limits and covers a diversity of extreme or dangerous sport activities.

     Wrap Up

World Nomad is a good insurance company to consider if you’re looking for cheap insurance that covers your activities such as travel and adventure.

It provides fairly comprehensive insurance especially for missing luggage and delayed flights.

Nonetheless, it’s important to mention that World Nomads does not provide any option for CFAR coverage.

That might turn out to be a limitation if you are the kind of a person who likes choice.

However, it has to be mentioned that each person has his/her subjective experiences and thus, it is sometimes essential to weigh the pros and cons in order to make a decision.
